GJK camp provides a safe, nurturing and fun environment with activities designed to enrich the summer in a creative and exciting way. We focus our daily activities on the great outdoors and try to spend as much of the day as possible enjoying the summer weather.
Our camp programs feature a variety of developmentally appropriate activities for each age level, and weekly activities for all ages include sand and water play, large outdoor art experiences, music and non-competitive games and activities.
Two-year-old Buccaneers This camp program is designed for children who are ready for independent play. Campers enjoy simple craft projects, outdoor play, and much more!
For many children, this is their first time separating from a parent/caregiver, and parents/caregivers may be asked to remain on site for the first few sessions to assist with the separation process.

Three-year old Explorers Three-year-olds fill their camp day with fun and adventure, enjoying sprinkler play, outdoor games, craft projects, cooking activities, small walking field trips, and more. Children bring a sack lunch for this adventure.

Four-year-old Pirates Four and five-year-olds will love this five day a week camp program. Sports, craft projects, water play, and more - all of the excitement you remember from our summer camp days! Each week, children participate in a variety of activities based on a "summer" theme. Field trips are an integral part of the summer camp experience. Pirates meet at the beach one day each week, go to the Highland Park Aquatic Center one day a week, and venture on several other field trips throughout the summer. Field trips are located in close proximity to camp, and drop-off and pick-up are at those locations. Well supervised, small group swim instruction will be a part of the field trip experience. Children bring a sack lunch for this adventure. Schedule Monday -Friday: 9:00am-1:00pm
Counselor in Training GJK’s Counselor in Training program is designed to introduce young people entering 7th, 8th, and 9th grades to the work environment.
Our goals for the program include:
Provide CIT's with direct experience in a professional setting.
Create specific responsibilities for each CIT, to help them learn about time management, organization, and follow through.
Have each CIT work closely with a group of campers to form attachments with the children.
We ask that the CIT take this position seriously and consistently act in a responsible, reliable and professional manner.
To apply for a CIT position, please contact the director, Laura Vocke at GJK at (847) 835-4455.
